Greenacres Watering Program

Coupled with our commitment to providing our customers with a quality turf product, we also have an even bigger commitment to being a water efficient and environmentally conscious operation. This is exhibited by a specialised and unique watering program.

The uniqueness of our watering program lies in a totally channel-fed lateral irrigation system - the only one of its kind being used on Western Australian turf farms. Because this system is totally channel fed, a lot of the water is retrieved from natural sources, i.e. winter rain - and water is only pumped into the channel from bore fields when absolutely necessary.

As well as this unique system, our other production areas are irrigated using specialist computerised pivot irrigators. Two of these irrigators obtain their water from a specially constructed Wetland, which obtains its water from natural drainage, meaning less dependence on precious schemed water sources.

This commitment to water efficiency means that Greenacres Turf Farm is doing its best to conserve Western Australia's depleting water supply. With the possible onset of water restrictions, the farms survival is dependent on adopting water saving strategies that will have a limited effect on production and quality.
