Fertilising Information
Along with irrigation and mowing, fertilising your lawn has the biggest effect on its quality.
So we have provided some handy information about fertilising your lawn. If you follow this information carefully, you should get the maximum results from your quality Greenacres Turf Farm product.

When Should I Fertilise?
Take care to fertilise heavily in Autumn (March and April) to ensure the stays strong as it goes into winter. For most turf varieties, winter is the peak stress time.
Fertilise heavily in early winter. This will keep the lawn as green as possible for as long as possible. In summer time the lawn will be able to grow rapidly, so use less fertiliser during this period.
What sort of Fertiliser should I use?
Lawn fertilisers are different from standard garden fertilisers. Most lawns require specific nutrients to remain healthy - primarily nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium (NPK). Often, standard garden fertilisers do not contain enough of these elements for use on your lawn.
Choose a lawn fertiliser that has about twice as much nitrogen as potassium, but with only 1 or 2% phosphorus. We recommend that before you rush down to your hardware store to buy fertiliser for your lawn, that you call us at Greenacres Turf Farm, so that we can recommend the best possible fertiliser to keep your lawn looking strong and healthy. This is especially important with the soft leaf Buffalo- the best product to use to keep these varieties healthy is a slow release fertiliser such as Sir Walter fertiliser, which is available for purchase from our farm.
Fertilising is really important, and it's a lot cheaper and better to use more fertiliser and less water.
How should I apply the fertiliser?
Spread the fertiliser evenly. This can be done by hand, or with a hand trolley. Make sure you wash the fertiliser in immediately after use by watering the covered area.
